Live on ITV 4: Tue 18.00: Phil Taylor is back in action tonight and Skybet still maintain a tempting evens about him to win the Grand Slam.
As predicted, James Wade slotted into 2nd in Group D to progress at Vincent van der Voort’s expense and the 2nd seed is now 7/1 with Paddy Power to win while Rob Thornton outed Simon Whitlock to win 3 from 3 and is Boylesports’ 50/1 chance. Thornton avoids Wade until the semi’s and has every chance of progressing that far, surely an each way would be merited.
Scot Gary Anderson is the 3rd fav at 15/2 (888sport) after he progressed top from Group B and confident looking Mervyn King is a 20/1 chance with bet365.
Tonight, Phil Taylor, still Skybet’s evens fav, is just 1/7 to beat Newton (Betfred) and you would not expect a repeat shock – Taylor will have been practicing in those new glasses of his for sure. 5-1 and 5-2 to Taylor is 3/1 and 10/3 repsectively (Paddy Power).
Raymond Van Barneveld is Skybet’s 4/9 fav to beat the tricky Darryl Fitton but Fitton should not be underestimated here. Barney was electric at time against Lloyd and should win again here but not without a fight; 5-4 Barney is 5/1 at Stan James.
Finally, Co Stompe has a fight on his hands to out Phillips and the Dutchman is 10/11 (888sport) to win, which he could do.
