Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Friday; Namib Dancer in the Huntingdon 13:00. Compare odds and bet.
Huntingdon’s card gets underway with a decent little novices’ handicap chase, in which I would have been really keen on Imperial Aura, but for the fact that the Kim Bailey yard hasn’t been among the winners of late. The drop in trip will certainly suit him and he remains on a very fair mark.
However, the selection comes 35 minutes later, when Namib Dancer (13:00) is taken to strike for Emma Lavelle and Adam Wedge. The penalised Addici (a winner for this column last time) is respected, but conceding 6lbs to the selection won’t be easy, with conditions likely to really suit the Lavelle runner.
Given how he has travelled in two hurdles starts to date, drying ground on a sharp track should prove fine and he shaped well when third in a bumper here last term. The six-year-old would have made a winning debut at Wincanton, but for making a mess of the last, and he was also far from fluent last time. If he can sharpen up his jumping, he can take this, although Allart is another who warrants plenty of consideration. He was heavily backed ahead of his debut at Ascot, only to fall at the first, and it is hoped that he makes the market.
