Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Wednesday; Pistol Whipped in the Leicester 2.00. Compare odds and bet.
There’s a decent 0-135 novices’ handicap chase from Leicester on Wednesday, in which Coolanly is likely to be popular, following the victory of Esprit Du Large at the weekend. Fergal O’Brien’s seven-year-old finished runner-up to the Grade 1 winner at Exeter last month on his chase debut and that piece of form certainly sets a really good standard.
There are plenty of interesting horses in opposition, however, with the Nicky Henderson-trained pairing both reappearing on the back of wind-operations. With Nico de Boinville (presumably) opting to ride Before Midnight, we might get a better price about Pistol Whipped (2:00) who looked all over a future chaser last season.
The five-year-old ran a cracker when third behind stable-mate Ratthill a year ago (finished in front of Dashel Drasher that day), before winning at Fakenham, when the track appeared far from ideal. The ground was too testing when pulled-up on his final outing and he looks potentially well-treated on an opening mark of 128. He gets the nod, in a race which should be worth following.
There is an early morning inspection scheduled, due to forecast overnight rain – if this bad weather materialises, it is presumed that the selection might well be saved for another day.
Wednesday’s selection:
2:00 Leicester – Pistol Whipped; 6/1 BetVictor
