Live on ITV 4: Tue 18.00: Skybet have eased Phil Taylor right out to evens to win the Grand Slam after he lost to Ted Hankey.
Hankey stunned the PDC World Champion 5-4 in Wolverhampton and afterwards Taylor revealed he was struggling with his new glasses in which he was playing for only the 2nd time. Hankey is now a 33/1 chance with Stan James but will probably meet Taylor again in the quarters should be qualify.
Also last night, Barney was beaten by Colin Lloyd and the Dutchman drifts out to 20/1 with Boylesports while fellow countryman Co Stompe recorded a good win over Adrian Lewis and is now 100/1 (Ladbrokes) for the title, a good outside shout.
Tonight, Simon Whitlock is just 2/5 with Coral to beat Rob Thornton. The 9/4 (bet365) about Thornton would seem too large, especially considering Whitlock has nothing to play for and Thornton has won 2 from 2, so the Scot would seem a good outside chance.
James Wade, 2/5 at Ladbrokes, needs a win over Van der Voort and the Premier League runner up can be backed to snatch Van der Voorts 2nd place to progress. Equal stakes about 5-2 and 5-3 to Wade, both 5/1 at Betfred, wouldn’t be a bad idea.
