Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Reserve Tank in the Wincanton 14:25 and Longhouse Poet 14:50 at Naas. Compare odds and bet.
Beaten at short odds on debut, Reserve Tank (2:25) is fancied to go one better in this afternoon’s “Rising Stars” Novices’ Chase at Wincanton, with the better ground in his favour.
Twice a winner in Grade 1 company over hurdles in the spring, he jumped well on debut but was a shade keen in the early exchanges, so it is hoped that Robbie Power can switch him off here. There would appear to be plenty pace options, so Power should be able to drop Reserve Tank in, and it is hoped that his class comes to the fore.
Over in Ireland Longhouse Poet (2:50) is taken to maintain his 100% record, in the 2m3f maiden hurdle at Naas. A winner of Point and a Punchestown Festival bumper, the Yeats five-year-old rates a lovely long-term prospect and, although he faces a solid performer in Column Of Fire and the ground is a slight unknown, he is given the vote.
Saturday’s selections:
2:25 Wincanton – Reserve Tank; 4/5 Betfred
2:50 Naas – Longhouse Poet; 11/4 BetVictor
