Paul Ferguson has two selections from Carlisle for us on Thursday; Overthetop in the 1.50 and Brewin’upastorm at 2.25. Compare odds and bet.
Olly Murphy sends a couple of exciting prospects to Carlisle on Thursday, starting off with Overthetop (1:50) in the opening novices’ hurdle. The five-year-old came from a long way off the pace to win his maiden Point and he made a winning debut for current connections, when beating Induno in a bumper at Warwick during April. The runner-up advertised that form when winning easily on Saturday and with the longer trip likely to suit, he can maintain his 100% record under Richard Johnson.
Only five go to post for the 2m beginners’ chase, but all five have the potential to do really well in this sphere. Despite the fact that both Global Citizen and Midnight Shadow were rated higher over hurdles, Brewin’upastorm (2:25) is taken to provide Murphy and Johnson with a quick-fire double.
The six-year-old, who finished fourth in the Ballymore and runner-up at Aintree, has a perfect record first-time-out and has undergone a wind-operation since last seen. A former winning Pointer, he should appreciate the drop in trip on this stiff track and although this is a big ask on debut, the son of Milan is fancied to deliver.
Thursday’s selections:
1:50 Carlisle – Overthetop; 8/11 Bet365
2:25 Carlisle – Brewin’upastorm; 7/4 BetVictor
