A non-runner yesterday Eden du Houx (3:50) should get more suitable ground at Fontwell this afternoon and the step up in trip shouldn’t pose any problems.
David Pipe’s dual bumper winner looks an exciting prospect for novice hurdles and (for a second successive day) he is selected to make a winning start. The obvious danger would appear to be I K Brunel, a bumper winner for Olly Murphy who was beaten just over five lengths by Elixir de Nutz on his hurdling debut at Cheltenham.
Worcester’s card gets underway early and the middle of the card is particularly interesting, with the competitive novices’ handicap chase and a cracking looking bumper both noteworthy. The expensive Papa Tango Charly and fellow Irish Points winner Israel Champ are a pair of exciting Rules debutants in a bumper which could throw up plenty of future winners.
Later on the card Floressa (2:55) is of interest on her hurdling debut, in the 2m mares’ maiden.
Nicky Henderson’s four-year-old beat Shantou Express (bolted up recently at Stratford) and Shanroe (won three bumpers subsequently) on debut at Ludlow in March, where she showed plenty of pace. The daughter of Poliglote, who is a full sister to classy French mare Polygona (Grade 3 winner over hurdles), then appeared to get outstayed at Cheltenham, having again travelled with some purpose.
Reverting to a sharper track will suit and she looks to have Dan Skelton’s Aggy With It to beat. She barely came off the bridle to win at Market Rasen, but there is much more depth to the form of Floressa, who looks a nice prospect for Nicky Henderson. French recruit Fejoada is another of interest, as she travelled really well when winning a chase before joining current connections.
