Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Misty Whiskey in the Market Rasen 14:00 and Colonel Custard 16:15 Ffos Las. Compare odds and bet.
Conditions are sure to be testing at Ffos Las this afternoon, but that should play to the strengths of Colonel Custard (4:15) who is fancied to land the Welsh Champion Hurdle.
A winner on heavy ground on his hurdles debut at Newton Abbot, he scored in deep ground over course-and-distance back in January and will relish the terrain. Unable to land a blow in the Grade 1 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle on his final start, he begins life in handicap company on a fair mark (134) and should go well under Daryl Jacob.
The Jane Williams-trained Monsieur Lecoq is another course-and-distance winner who will relish the conditions and is respected, with both looking well-weighted.
At Market Rasen Misty Whisky (2:00) is taken to make a winning hurdles debut, in the opening mares’ only novice event. The five-year-old, who is a half-sister to both Air Horse One and One For Rosie, boasts some really strong bumper form and looks certain to relish this longer trip.
A winner at Ludlow on her second start, she then beat Silver Forever (won last Friday) in a Listed event at Sandown, before finishing seventh in the Grade 2 at Aintree. The one concern is that the Harry Fry stable doesn’t appear to have really got going yet, but if wound up she is likely to take some beating, especially as she receives weight from the useful Hotter Than Hell.
Saturday’s selections:

4:15 Ffos Las – Colonel Custard; 7/1 Bet365
