I’ll be up at Perth on Wednesday for the Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, but the day’s selection comes from Kempton, where Faylaq (7:30) is fancied to return to winning ways, for William Haggas and Jim Crowley.
Twice a winner earlier in the campaign, the beautifully bred Dubawi colt looked a horse on a sharp upward curve at that point, and although he was beaten at Ascot when last seen in July, he remains a decent prospect.
Up 2lbs for that latest reversal, he still looks to have the potential to graduate beyond handicaps and if that is to be the case, he really ought to be beating this evening’s four rivals, despite being burdened with top-weight.
