Following sound runs in the Ascot Gold Cup and the Goodwood equivalent Cross Counter (4:10) is fancied to appreciate the drop in trip and land the Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Sunday.
It is difficult to say that the Melbourne Cup winner failed to stay on either occasion, but given how he moves, he promises to be better over a slightly shorter trip, plus his middle-distance form at three certainly reads well. He got the better of Dee Ex Bee over 1m4f in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood and with the ground drying out, conditions could be ideal come post time.
