Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Sinjaari in the Haydock 16:20. Compare odds and bet.
As regular readers will know, I have been with Sinjaari (4:20) for some time now and although he hasn’t won since landing a strong Windsor maiden, he is given another chance to land a handicap, at Haydock on Thursday.
Prior to that maiden victory, he bumped into subsequent Listed winner (also won a handicap in between) Private Secretary on his debut for the William Haggas stable. Following his win, he was beaten a head by dual French Group race winner Headman in the London Gold Cup at Newbury, a race that has worked out really well since, with Good Birthday (3rd) winning for this column on Saturday, whilst Forest Of Dean (4th) has won a couple of decent handicaps since. Indeed, the selection finished third behind the last-named at Glorious Goodwood last time and the winner franked the form by following up at York.
The step up in trip will suit Sinjaari, who has only had one try over this distance, when he raced alone on the wide outside, in Royal Ascot’s King George V Stakes. On breeding, you would be hopeful that he will handle soft ground and his form adds up really well.
Thursday’s selection:
4:20 Haydock – Sinjaari; 11/8 Betvictor
