Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; December Second 16:30 at Haydock and Mokammal 19:15 at Sandown. Compare odds and bet.
Mokammal (7:15) appeared to appreciate the step up to this sort of trip at Chester last time and can complete the hat-trick – off a 4lbs higher mark – at Sandown on Thursday.
Sir Michael Stoute’s lightly-raced son of Mukhadram had earlier won at Wetherby on his third start and is now unbeaten since being gelded. He has more to offer and with conditions to suit, he can score again under Jim Crowley.
Earlier in the day, December Second (4:30) is of interest on his handicap debut, for Philip Kirby and Andrew Elliott.
He has now finished runner-up on his three starts on the Flat, but he hasn’t done much wrong and an opening mark of 82 seems reasonable. Before switching to the Flat, he had won twice in bumpers, as well as finishing sixth (beaten just 6 lengths) in the Grade 1 at the Punchestown Festival. It might be that he comes into his own once going over even further, but he will certainly appreciate stepping back up in distance here.
Thursday’s selections:
4:30 Haydock – December Second; 11/2 bet365
7:15 Sandown – Mokammal; 9/2 bet365
