It could be a good day for Newmarket trainer William Haggas on Thursday, with both Knight Shield and Incredulous looking to hold sound claims at Newbury, whilst Space Walk (14:50) should relish the step up to 1m6f at Sandown.
A game winner at Haydock last month, the Galileo colt – who carries the famous silks of The Queen – might well have been given a chance here by the handicapper, with an opening mark of 80. Really quick ground would be a slight concern, but the forecast ‘good’ should be fine and although the Mark Johnston-pair are likely to ensure that he doesn’t enjoy an easy lead, he is taken to score under Oisin Murphy.
Just Hubert is another who looks as though he will relish the longer trip and despite the small field, this could be a race to watch closely with the remainder of the season in mind.
