Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Bardo Contiguo in the Chester 13:45 and Too Darn Hot 15:35 at The Curragh. Compare odds and bet.
Although it is a little surprising that he reappears so quickly Too Darn Hot (3:35) is taken to land the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh this afternoon.
Runner-up in the Dante only last Wednesday, the drop back to a mile seems a positive move and he has clearly pleased John Gosden in the past week since York. If he steps forward fitness wise for that return – and his trainer expects him to – he can return to winning ways, at the main expense of the Newmarket first and third. I suspect that he will be ridden more positively today and the long home straight ought to suit.
Elsewhere, it wouldn’t be the most exciting of Saturdays from a punting perspective, but Bardo Contiguo (1:45) should take the beating in the opener at Chester. A promising second behind a potentially smart sort on debut at Wolverhampton (fourth won yesterday), Roger Varian’s Lope de Vega colt shouldn’t mind this slightly shorter trip and he can get off the mark if stepping forward on his turf debut.
Saturday’s selections:
1:45 Chester – Bardo Contiguo; 15/8 Bet365
3:35 Curragh – Too Darn Hot; 6/4 Paddy Power
