An easy winner over course-and-distance back in October, Ready And Able (8:20) can score again at Aintree this evening, for the Jonjo O’Neill stable.
Off the track for 190 days, the six-year-old was a faller when last sighted at Newbury (just 12 days after his Aintree win) in early-November and finds himself on an 8lbs higher mark here. Three-from-three over hurdles when racing on good ground, he remains completely unexposed as a stayer and he looked a horse with a bright future when winning here last autumn. The lay-off is the only slight concern, but he has held entries in recent weeks, so it is presumed that he will be ready to do himself justice.
