Twice a winner from four starts last term Spirit Ridge (1:50) appeals as the type to improve again as a four-year-old and he looks worthy of support in the opener at Newmarket on Sunday.
Amanda Perrett’s Nathaniel gelding won at Catterick and Leicester, whilst also bumping into the exciting Outbox (did hold an entry here, too, at five-day stage) at Ffos Las. It could be that he comes into his own over a shade further as the season unfolds, but this looks a good starting point and the lightly-raced youngster can continue his progression.
