Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Friend Or Foe in the 14:40 and Get In The Queue 17:00 both at Newbury. Compare odds and bet.
Top-class jockey Noel Fehily hangs up his riding boots after racing at Newbury this afternoon and he can sign off with a victory on his very last ride, aboard Get In The Queue (5:00) in the Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper.
Trainer Harry Fry has won the past two renewals of this race and his son of Mount Nelson has looked a potentially very smart prospect, in winning at both Uttoxeter and Exeter. Visibility prevented us from seeing too much last time, but he appeared from the gloom in splendid isolation, crossing the line with 16 lengths to spare over Sheshoon Sonny, who won at Wetherby earlier this week. Having swerved the Champion Bumper to wait for this, he is fancied to shoulder the double penalty to victory and complete the hat-trick.
Earlier on the card, Paul Nicholls’ Friend Or Foe (2:40) is taken to win the juvenile handicap hurdle and gain some sort of compensation for missing the cut in last week’s Fred Winter.
The French import made a winning British debut at Taunton in late-December, where he jumped and travelled well en route to making all, after which he was saved to protect his mark for the festival. The plan didn’t quite work out, but he remains a promising youngster and can make it two-from-two for his current connections.
Saturday’s selections:
2:40 Newbury – Friend Or Foe; 9/4 William Hill
5:00 Newbury – Get In The Queue; 2/5 Bet365
