Dan Skelton’s Ferrobin sets the standard in the opening novices’ hurdle at Huntingdon on Sunday, on what is his first start in 110 days and his first start since a wind-op. He faces a nice sort in the shape of Jimmy The Digger (2:00) however and Henry Daly’s Ludlow bumper winner is given the nod.
Runner-up at Bangor on debut, this imposing son of Black Sam Bellamy was well-supported and ran out a taking winner on his second start. The form might not amount to a great deal, but he appeals as the type to improve now he goes jumping.
In the concluding bumper, Alan King’s Fuseau sets a decent standard on all known form, but Volunteer (5:10) looked a future winner when runner-up here on debut and should appreciate the longer trip.
The Aqlaam gelding travelled well when runner-up (closing all the way to the line) to a potentially useful sort here in late-January and if he improves on that effort, he ought to go close under Aidan Coleman.
