Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Angels Breath in the 15:00 and Rather Be 15:35 both at Kempton. Compare odds and bet.
Nicky Henderson saddles plenty of runners with chances this afternoon and, given his position towards the head of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle market, all eyes will be on Angels Breath (3:00) in the Sky Bet Dovecote at Kempton.
The grey has to concede weight all around here, given that he has already proven successful in this grade, when scoring at Ascot on his debut for the stable. It has been well documented that he only jumped four flights of hurdles on that occasion, but he had earlier shown plenty of promise when winning his sole Point in Ireland. He showed plenty of speed on that occasion, too, so I don’t expect the quick track to be an issue and, if we’re being realistic, he really needs to be winning this if the Supreme dream is to remain intact.
Stable-mate Rather Be (3:35) tries 3m for the first time in the valuable 888Sport Handicap Chase and, whilst he needs to prove his stamina, he ought to relish the underfoot conditions.
Things haven’t gone right for him since last year’s Cheltenham Festival – when he got caught on the line – as he was brought down when travelling well in the Bet Victor Gold Cup. He struggled in bad ground the following month and has been nicely freshened up since, returning to action on his preferred decent surface. If he stays, he could have too much speed for these and can be backed each-way.
Elsewhere, Henderson will be hoping that both Dickie Diver and Lust For Glory can win their respective novice hurdles (both bound to be pretty short) and it could be a red-letter day for the stable.
