After three highly promising efforts over hurdles NORDIC COMBINED (2:05) is fancied to get off the mark at Ffos Las on Monday.
David Pipe’s five-year-old was a useful handicapper on the level and his last two efforts – in particular his last run at Newbury – marked him down as a sure fire future winner. That Newbury race was given a boost when the fourth won recently and the selection can make the most of the 6lbs he receives from Colonel Custard.
Fifth in the same Newbury event, UMNDENI (2:55) can complete a short-priced double in the maiden hurdle at Fontwell.
Philip Hobbs’ runner is a full brother to Vision des Flos and looked a hugely promising sort when winning a Warwick bumper last April. Only fourth on hurdles debut, he failed to jump fluently that day and shaped with more promise at Newbury. This race doesn’t look particularly deep at all, so it will be disappointing if he can’t score under Richard Johnson.
