Exeter stages a fantastic novices’ chase this afternoon, in which the exciting Black Op makes his debut over fences against a couple of potentially high-class rivals, in the shape of Topofthegame and White Moon.
That looks a race to enjoy, whilst at Sandown I am interested in another chasing debutant, at a much lower level. Nicky Henderson’s Turtle Wars (1:55) has been dropped 2lbs for his fifth in the EBF Final when last seen in March and that race has worked out quite well since.
I think this five-year-old is on a fair mark and if he jumps well on debut, he should go close under Nico de Boinville. Henderson has been firing in the winners during the past few days and he wastes no time in switching this son of Turtle Bowl to the larger obstacles.
