Having shown promise as a juvenile hurdler, I was looking forward to seeing Admiral Barratry (5:15) return to action last year and he was duly well-supported on his return at Fontwell last October. He didn’t jump very well at all on that occasion, but left that form behind when staying on to finish runner-up to Lostintranslation at Newbury, with smart performers Simply The Betts and Black Op in behind.
The five-year-old hung up the home straight at Newbury, but finished as though this longer trip should suit, and he certainly possesses the natural ability to win races over hurdles. This doesn’t look a strong contest at all, by the tracks standards.
