Previous winners High Jinx and Falak are clearly respected, but Aye Right (4:10) shaped with promise on more than one occasion last season and he looks a sure-fire future winner.
A bumper winner at Carlisle in November – beat Kateson who went on to finish runner-up in the Grade 2 at Aintree – Harriet Graham’s five-year-old bumped in to the smart Clondaw Castle on his hurdles debut and then found the concession of 11lbs to Pearl Of The West (won twice during the summer) too much on his final start. He is bred to appreciate this longer trip and it will be interesting to see if the market speaks in his favour, after almost six months off. He is certainly one to note with the future in mind, even if he isn’t up to the task today, against a couple of race-fit rivals.
