Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Shanning in the Listowel 17:25. Compare odds and bet.
Despite the severe drop in trip Shanning (5:25) is of interest in the valuable handicap hurdle at Listowel on Thursday.
Willie Mullins’ mare won her first two starts in Ireland last year – over this trip in a maiden and a novice – before being pitched into a really competitive contest over 2m7f at the Galway Festival. The daughter of Spanish Moon travelled really well for Ruby Walsh on that occasion, but appeared not to last home. Stamina was a question mark beforehand, having won over 1m2f on the Flat in France, so dropping in trip isn’t such a surprise. I did think that Mullins might try her over an intermediate trip, but there is no doubting that she has the potential to rate a fair bit higher than her current mark and she ought to go well.
Thursday’s selection:
5:25 Listowel – Shanning; 3/1 Ladbrokes
