Paul Ferguson has two selections from Haydock for us on Saturday; Beatboxer (NR) at 3.00 and Harry Angel at 4.15. Compare odds and bet.
Last year’s winner Harry Angel (4:15) can land this afternoon’s Group 1 Sprint Cup from Haydock.
Clive Cox’s four-year-old was an impressive winner 12 months ago and remains unbeaten away from Ascot. Two-from-two at the Merseyside track, he ran out a ready winner on his reappearance at York before losing his race in the stalls at the Royal meeting. Provided that he handles the prelims well and goes into stall three without much fuss, I expect him to have too much class for the opposition.
Earlier on the card, there is a good renewal of the Listed Ascendant Stakes, in which Beatboxer (3:00 non runner) bids to maintain his 100% record.
A taking winner on debut at Sandown, John Gosden’s Scat Daddy colt easily defied his penalty when beating a subsequent winner in a novice event over today’s course-and-distance. This represents another step up the ladder, but he looks a potentially smart juvenile and despite the reservations about softer ground, he is taken to make it three out of three.
Saturday’s selections:
3:00 Haydock – Beatboxer; Non Runner
4:15 Haydock – Harry Angel; 5/4 Bet365
