Live on Skysports 4: Wed 10.00: Federer, Djokovic and Murray all get into action today at the ATP Paribas Masters in Paris.
Almagro and Youzhny were yesterday’s significant casualties, the latter easing Roddick’s passage to the semi’s – the American is 20/1 with Sportingbet to win, a fair price, and 4/11 (Skybet) to win today against Nieminen.
Djokovic will then play the tricky Argentine Juan Monaco. Djokovic has drifted to 4/1 (Betfred) overnight, perhaps due to the strong performance of Thomas Berdych (himself a 25/1 shot with 888sport) in his quarter, but the Serb can be reassured of his stunning 2010 record and 3-0 history over Monaco.
Andy Murray is 8/15 to beat Nalbandian with Stan James and 11/2 with Paddy Power to win overall and this will be a real test for the Scot. Nalbandian has a real chance of an upset here and even if Murray were to progress, his path holds, potentially, Cilic, Verdasco and Federer before he even makes the final. Not worth backing here.
Federer, still the 11/5 fav (Boylesports), gets underway against Gasquet and should have no trouble getting through. An eye should be kept on David Ferrer as well, 25/1 with Boylesports.
