Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Tuesday; Stradivarius in the Goodwood 15:35, Canardier 17:20 at Galway and Chanceanotherfive 18:50 at Perth. Compare odds and bet.
Last year’s winner Stradivarius (3:35) is fancied to win this afternoon’s Goodwood Cup, for John Gosden and Andrea Atzeni, who was aboard last year and is deputising for the suspended Frankie Dettori.
The Sea The Stars colt was an easy winner of the Yorkshire Cup on his reappearance and followed up in the Ascot Gold Cup last time, when he stayed on strongly. The longer trip was a minor concern for me and I expect today’s slightly shorter trip to be a positive – he certainly didn’t look short of speed on his return at York.
Up at Perth, Keith Dalgleish’s Chanceanotherfive (6:50) can make a winning debut over hurdles, under the in-form Brian Hughes.
The six-year-old won a couple of bumpers before attempting to give a nice prospect plenty of weight at Musselburgh, then found the ground too soft in the Grade 2 at Aintree. He will appreciate the sound surface and looks a nice recruit for the time of year.
Over at Galway, I like the chances of Canardier (5:20) in the opening novice hurdle, despite facing a couple of unbeaten horses from the Willie Mullins yard.
A mistake two out cost him his chance last time, but his form in defeat reads quite well and I think the drop back to 2m will suit. With conditions in his favour, a big race looks on the cards.

5:20 Galway Festival – Canardier; 11/2 BetVictor
