Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Top Notch in the Sandown 14:25 and Apple’s Jade in the 15:50 at Punchestown. Compare odds and bet.
Nicky Henderson will hope to sign off the campaign with an easy success for Altior in this afternoon’s Celebration Chase, and the Lambourn trainer could well strike with Top Notch (2:25) in the Grade 2 Oaksey Chase, too.
Freshened up following a disappointing run in the Ascot Chase last time, he arrives here having missed Cheltenham and Aintree, and prior to that latest effort he boasted an unblemished record when racing right-handed. Despite conceding weight all around, the seven-year-old can round off his campaign in style.
Over in Ireland Apple’s Jade (3:50) is also fancied to bounce back to winning ways in the Annie Power Mares Champion Hurdle.
Only third at Cheltenham, I’m confident she ran a fair bit below her best on that occasion and had earlier looked better than ever when winning her first three starts of the season. A little flat at the festival, she can reverse form with Benie des Dieux and Midnight Tour, if anywhere near her best.
Saturday’s selections:
2:25 Sandown – Top Notch; 5/4 Bet365
3:50 Punchestown – Apple’s Jade; 11/8 Ladbrokes
