Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Thursday; Might Bite 14:50, Supasundae 15:25 and Getaway Katie Mai 17:15 all at Aintree. Compare odds and bet.
Runner-up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup MIGHT BITE (2:50) can land this afternoon’s Betway Bowl at Aintree.
Nicky Henderson’s King George winner travelled really well in the Gold Cup and today’s easier track – where he was successful last year as a novice – should be right up his street.
Another festival runner-up SUPASUNDAE (3:25) is fancied to go one better in the Aintree Hurdle.
With Champion Hurdle winner Buveur D’Air an absentee, this looks a good opportunity for Jessica Harrington’s charge, who will appreciate the drop in trip. Very testing ground would be a concern, but his form earlier in the season – notably when winning the Irish Champion Hurdle – makes him very much the one to beat.
The concluding race can also go the way of Ireland, with GETAWAY KATIE MAI (5:15) setting a solid standard in the mares’ bumper.
A winner at Ballinrobe last summer, she ran a blinder to split subsequent Champion Bumper winner and seventh – Relegate and Colreevy – in a similar event at Leopardstown. That is the single strongest piece of form on offer and Jamie Codd takes the ride.
Of the opposition Dissavril is among those respected (impressed on her British debut), but John Queally’s five-year-old is fancied to prevail.
Thursday’s selections:
2:50 Aintree – Might Bite; 5/6 Paddy Power
3:25 Aintree – Supasundae; evens bet365
5:15 Aintree – Getaway Katie Mai; 5/2 William Hill
