Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Turtle Wars in the Sandown 13:50. Compare odds and bet.
As usual, today’s EBF Final looks a really competitive handicap hurdle and a case can be made for several of these.
Given that he finished runner-up to Maria’s Benefit, Kalashnikov and First Flow on his first three starts over hurdles, it is no wonder that Towcester winner Al Shahir heads the betting for Dan and Harry Skelton, but preference is for Turtle Wars (1:50) who should be backed each-way for Nicky Henderson and James Bowen.
The stable ‘second string’ according to the betting, the five-year-old looked a horse on the up when winning a maiden over 2m at Huntingdon last time – a qualifier for this – and also suggested that he will appreciate going back up in distance. The soft ground was to his liking that day, too, so conditions should suit and a bold show looks on the cards.
Saturday’s selection:
1:50 Sandown: Turtle Wars; 10/1 Bet365
