Terriers To Show Their Teeth

Live on ESPN: Sat 17.30: Huddersfield are a sizeable 8/11 (Stan James) to get their teeth stuck into Cambridge in the FA Cup.

Huddersfield are given the televised treatment this weekend as the broadcasters forage around amongst the FA Cup first round ties for potential shocks and the Terriers’ non-league opponents, Cambridge, are 9/2 courtesy of Coral to duly oblige tomorrow by sending Lee Clark’s men tumbling out of the competition.

Town’s hit-and-miss away form could nudge a few punters towards that price or indeed 14/5 for the U’s to force a replay and Totesport’s 11/2 for it to finish 1-1, however, there are still two divisions between the sides and although the clash takes place at the Abbey Stadium, Huddersfield should justify the 8/11 favouritism given to them by Betfred.

Of course, it won’t be straightforward as the hosts are sure to be firing on all cylinders but the Terriers, fresh from the midweek victory at Sheffield Wednesday, should have the class to eventually prevail and they’re15/8 (888Sport) to do so by two clear goals or more.

William Hill quote odds of 8/1 for Clark’s charges to notch twice without reply, as they did at Hillsborough, and Partybets make them 8/5 to hold firm in defence to combine victory with a clean sheet but in a tough, attritional affair, Town may have to be patient. They’re worth considering then at 7/2 (Ladbrokes) to come out on top following a drawn first period and a strong case can also be made for Paddy Power’s 10/11 marked against the opening goal coming after the 24th minute.

Three out of Huddersfield’s last four matches have produced fewer than 2.5 goals and this one is even money with Betdaq to follow suit. Stan James rate the Terriers at 4/7 to grab the first of any successful strikes and in-form Anthony Pilkington, who has scored in his last six matches in all competitions, is 8/1 with bet365 to fire that opener. The same firm make Pilkington 9/4 to strike at any stage.

Recommended Bets:
Huddersfield to beat Cambridge – 8/11 (Betfred)
First goal to be scored after 24th minute – 10/11 (Paddy Power)
Anthony Pilkington to score at any time – 9/4 (bet365)
