Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Wednesday; Doctor Bartolo in the Newbury 12:30 and Marie Banrigh in the Ludlow 1.55. Compare odds and bet.
Newbury stages a decent card this afternoon and the action at the Berkshire track gets underway with a juvenile hurdle.
Local trainer Nicky Henderson invariably unwraps a smart horse at this track and his French winner Style de Garde is respected, but DOCTOR BARTOLO (12:30) looked a sure fire future winner on debut and might be up to lowering his colours.
Alan King has a good record in this event and the grey was a course winner when trained on the level by Henderson’s neighbour Charlie Hills. Runner-up here on his other Flat appearance at the track, he made a solid start for new connections at Wetherby and receives a handy 6lbs from the market leader.
Up at Ludlow, I’m looking forward to seeing MAIRE BANRIGH (1:55) for Dan and Harry Skelton. The five-year-old cost £320,000 on the back of an impressive Irish Point-to-Point success and she looks an exciting recruit.
Wednesday’s selections:
12:30 Newbury – Doctor Bartolo; 9/4 BetVictor
1:55 Ludlow – Maire Banrigh; 13/8 Bet365
