Counter Shy 9/2 @ Cheltenham

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Friday; Counter Shy in the Cheltenham 13:15. Compare odds and bet.

Cheltenham’s November meeting gets underway this afternoon and Counter Shy (1:15) looks one to be with in the competitive looking novices’ handicap hurdle.

A winner for this column at Worcester back in September, he went on to finish runner-up under a penalty in a decent event at Uttoxeter and an opening mark of 124 looks fair. Of course this looks a much sterner test, but he goes through his races as though a big field might actually help and, given how strongly he has finished on both starts this term, the climb to the line won’t be an issue.

With conditions to suit and Barry Geraghty taking over in the saddle, a big run looks on the cards. Coeur Blimey and Oxwich Bay are another pair to note in what looks a typical Cheltenham handicap.

Friday’s selection:
1:15 Cheltenham – Counter Shy; 9/2 Ladbrokes
