Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Tuesday; Politologue in the 14:00 and Rio Bravo 15:35 both at Exeter. Compare odds and bet.
A smart novice last term POLITOLOGUE (2:00) can land this afternoon’s feature from Exeter, the Haldon Gold Cup.
Paul Nicholls’ grey won twice last season and his form was advertised on Sunday when Waiting Patiently won impressively at Carlisle.
He would have won Aintree’s Mildmay Novices’ Chase on his final start but for stumbling after the last. That form has also been advertised this season by Forest Bihan, who re-opposes on 4lbs worse terms today.
Admittedly, Brian Ellison’s charge could hold a fitness advantage over the selection, who reportedly returned to training slightly late and Nicholls warned recently that he might not quite be ready for today’s assignment. Despite these slight fears, he is worth chancing at the odds (opened 3-1 on Monday) as he is certainly capable of winning off his current mark.
Later on the card RIO BRAVO (3:35) looks interesting at a big price (16-1 with Paddy Power at the time of writing – only firm priced up) in the staying handicap hurdle.
Graeme McPherson’s six-year-old travelled purposefully on his return to action at Worcester in late September, form that reads well with the winner going on to finish a sound second at Cheltenham.
If he stays, he looks of definite interest off a mark of 114 on ground that ought to suit.
