Bristol City are 23/20 with William Hill to beat Preston and drag themselves out of the Championship drop-zone.
Bristol City remain in the bottom three in the Championship but the Robins’ form of late belies their lowly league position and they can continue their improvement this weekend against fellow strugglers Preston at Ashton Gate.
Keith Millen’s side picked up three points at Middlesbrough last weekend, a feat made more impressive by the hosts’ appointment of Tony Mowbray as manager, which was supposed to bring about an immediate Riverside resurgence. Prior to that victory, City managed a draw against then leaders QPR and beat Reading at home while their last defeat, at table toppers Cardiff, saw them take a 2-0 lead before going down 3-2.
By contrast, North End have lost three of their last four and so it’s hard to see past the battling Robins who are a tasty 23/20 with William Hill to prevail and climb out of the relegation zone.
Cardiff jumped to the top of the table last Saturday after a 3-1 victory over Norwich and they’re a best price of even money at 888Sport to consolidate their position by beating Welsh rivals Swansea on Sunday. However, as Brendan Rogers’ side are riding high in third and have kept five clean sheets on the spin in the league, backing the Bluebirds is a risky approach and indeed Betdaq’s 10/11 for the contest to produce fewer than 2.5 goals looks a safer bet at the Cardiff City Stadium.
QPR meanwhile, relinquished top spot at the weekend, having registered a fourth consecutive stalemate and while Neil Warnock’s unbeaten side are capable of getting the better of Reading at Loftus Road, the odds-on quotes on offer are far from appealing and it could be best to ignore this fixture.
Much better value to secure a home win are Doncaster, who entertain Millwall. Rovers have only lost one match at the Keepmoat Stadium and they bounced back immediately from that result by recording a comfortable derby success against Sheffield United. They also come up against a Lions outfit with only two victories to their name in ten outings and at 6/5 (), Sean O’Driscoll’s are definitely worth considering.
Finally, on first glance, given that Sheffield United have lost four from seven on their own patch failing to score in all of those losses, Ipswich look overpriced at 2/1 with bet365 at Bramall Lane. However, Roy Keane’s side arrive in south Yorkshire on the back of three straight defeats on their travels and so their form isn’t exactly reliable. Tackling Town at 11/10 in Paddy Power’s ‘Draw No Bet’ market offers a safer alternative.
