A first and a third for Paul Ferguson on Tuesday. Today’s selections are Ohio Gold in the 1:05 at Chepstow: and First Lieutenant in the 1:50 at Fairyhouse.
The opening maiden hurdle at Chepstow on Wednesday looks an interesting contest, with a number of big stables represented, which means Ohio Gold (1:05) should be sent off at a reasonable price.
Colin Tizzard’s four-year-old won a Wincanton bumper on debut last term, before finishing fourth in a valuable contest at Doncaster and, on both occasions, he caught the eye with the way he travelled.
With ground and trip unlikely to be a problem, he looks sure to run a big race on his hurdles debut.
Over in Ireland the exciting First Lieutenant (1:50) takes the next step up the ladder, after his maiden hurdle success at Punchestown last month.
The five-year-old has to concede weight to a couple of potentially useful sorts, but he looks up to the task before he is upped in trip and in class later in the campaign.
Wednesday’s selections:
1:05 Chepstow: Ohio Gold
1:50 Fairyhouse: First Lieutenant
