Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Tuesday; Maria’s Benefit in the Worcester 16:05 and Ex Patriot 16:40 Listowel. Compare odds and bet.
Triumph Hurdle fourth EX PATRIOT (4:40) shoulders top-weight in this afternoon’s 2m handicap hurdle at Listowel and looks to have a class advantage over his rivals.
A soft ground maiden hurdle winner in January, he also passed the post first in a Grade 3 (heavy) at Fairyhouse – again showing a liking for testing ground – before losing the race in the stewards’ room.
He shaped really well for a long way at Cheltenham and, whilst it is notoriously difficult for four-year-olds in their second season, a mark of 141 looks more than fair.
Domestically MARIA’S BENEFIT (4:05) can make a winning debut over hurdles at Worcester.
An Irish Point-to-Point winner, the Beneficial mare shaped well on her Rules debut before winning a bumper at Huntingdon. She went on to finish 10th in a Grade 2 at Aintree – race has already worked out well – where she ran better than the bare result would suggest. Keen early, she went well for a long way and she looks quick enough to win over the minimum trip now she goes hurdling.
Tuesday’s selections:
4:05 Worcester – Maria’s Benefit; 2/1 Skybet
4:40 Listowel – Ex Patriot; 5/2 Skybet
