GOLDEN SPEAR (5:10) has yet to land the big prize that he has threatened to, but today might be his day.
The form of his Ascot fourth and third in the Coral.ie Hurdle looks extremely strong in the context of this event and it is worth remembering that he beat yesterday’s big race winner Tigris River on soft ground in a four-year-old event at Listowel.
He remains on a fair mark and this looks his best opportunity for some time.
At bigger odds, the in-form Top Othe Ra looks capable of going well for Thomas and David Mullins (available at 14s on Thursday evening).
