Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; Irish Roe in the Cartmel 14:50. Compare odds and bet.
Uttoxeter stages a decent jumps card for the time of year on Sunday, where I am interested in Fact Of The Matter at a decent price in the Summer Cup.
Jamie Snowden’s seven-year-old has a nice weight and has been targeted at this race, since finishing a creditable third at Aintree in May. The proviso with him is that he must have good ground, however, so any rain beforehand would be a huge negative. If the ground were still decent, I wouldn’t put anyone off backing him each-way (14-1 at the time of writing).
Up at Cartmel, a couple of decent mares lock horns in the Hadwins Motor Group Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
Neil Mulholland’s The Wicket Chicken is greatly respected, but preference is for Irish Roe (2:50) who looks full of pace – again, any significant rain would probably be a negative, despite the fact that she dead-heated on soft ground in a Cheltenham bumper last November.
The daughter of Vinnie Roe quickened up smartly to make a winning hurdles debut at Southwell in May and she is likely to scoot around this tight track.
Sunday’s selection:
2:50 Cartmel: Irish Roe; 4/6 William Hill
