Alan Thomson, the former Racing Editor at the Daily Record, picks out four to follow at Newmarket and Wetherby on Saturday afternoon
FRANKIE DETTORI treated his huge fan club to a vintage Godolphin treble at Lingfield on Thursday and the boys in blue could bag another hat-trick at Newmarket on Saturday.
First up on the Bet365-sponsored card is EMIRATES DREAM (2.00). The three-year-old flopped in the Cambridgeshire but had earlier posted a comfortable success at Goodwood, where he had subsequent winner South Cape well held in third.
ALEXANDROS (2.35) hasn’t looked entirely in love with the game since scoring at Meydan in the winter and Saeed Bin Suroor will be hoping the combination of a first-time visor and a drop in class does the trick in the Listed event.
KIRKLEES (4.20) was off the track for almost a full year following an injury sustained in the Caulfield Cup Down Under, but his two comeback runs at Ayr and York have not been without promise. Kirklees finished runner-up to stablemate With Interest in this event in 2008 when there was also some juice in the ground.
Bet365 also sponsor the feature Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby where the best bet on the card may be ALEGRALIL (2.15). Donald McCain has quickly established himself as a tour de force and has his yard in sparkling form. Alegralil can occasionally fluff her lines at the hurdles but she was unbeaten in her first four starts last season before tackling better company.
Tally Ho
Alan
