All eyes will be on Newbury this afternoon, with plenty of high-class prospects on show, but it’s off to Uttoxeter for the day’s sole selection, in the shape of Big Meadow (4:35) in the concluding handicap hurdle.
Neil King’s six-year-old was a smart bumper performer, including when runner-up to the smart prospect Mr Big Shot at this course, and has raced a shade too exuberantly over further on two hurdles starts to date. Judged on his bumper form, a mark of 114 looks pretty lenient and, with the drop in trip on testing ground likely to be in his favour, he can get off the mark at the third time of asking.
