Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Lough Derg Spirit in the Musselburgh 2.40 and Verni in the Taunton 3.50. Compare odds and bet.
Peter The Mayo Man heads up to Musselburgh in search of the four-timer and, while conditions look suitable for the 142-rated Betfair Hurdle entry, preference is for Lough Derg Spirit (2:40) in Sunday’s Sky Bet Supreme Scottish Trial Novices’ Hurdle.
Nicky Henderson’s runner looked really promising when making a winning Rules debut at Kempton in November and I’m not sure he ran up to form at Ascot the following month. The track and ground are likely to be in his favour here and he is taken to bounce back to winning ways, given the impression he created on debut.
Down at Taunton Verni (3:50) can land the seniors’ handicap hurdle, with the better ground likely to be more to his liking. An easy winner at Newton Abbot in October, he finished runner-up to Clyne (franked the form since) in heavy ground at Haydock the following month and races off the same mark here.
Sunday’s selection:
2:40 Musselburgh: Lough Derg Spirit 9/4 Bet365
3:50 Taunton: Verni 2/1 Skybet
