Huddersfield, 4/9 at Partybets, present a better oppurtunity in League 1 than following leaders Brighton or 2nd placed Bournemouth.
League One leaders Brighton are six points ahead of the chasing pack but they face a rigorous test of their title mettle this weekend as they head to third-placed Peterborough. Posh have won five out of six on their own patch, scoring an impressive 21 goals in the process and they’re narrow 11/8 favourites at Ladbrokes but the Seagulls (21/10, ) have only lost once on the road and they could well nick a point, a result rated at 12/5 by Betfred, although only the brave will bet heavily on this clash.
Another contest to avoid from a betting perspective is at Dean Court, where second-placed Bournemouth take on Colchester. The Cherries are undefeated at home but the Us have yet to lose on the road where they have drawn four out of six and subsequently Eddie Howe’s side look too risky at 11/10 with Coral.
Punters should instead turn their attention to the Galpharm Stadium where Huddersfield look like a home banker ahead of the visit of hapless Walsall. The hosts’ form of late hasn’t exactly been consistent but they’ve kept things steady on their own patch and defeated Southampton there last time out.
The Saddlers meanwhile, arrive in West Yorkshire having won just once in ten attempts and a 4-1 home defeat to fellow strugglers Tranmere does little to suggest they can get anything from this game. At 4/9 with Partybets however, the Terriers are undoubtedly short enough and we’re keener on backing them at 5/4 courtesy of 888Sport to comfortably beat their beleaguered opponents by at least two clear goals.
Plymouth’s last six games have seen them win twice, draw twice and lose twice; in other words the Pilgrims are the very model of inconsistency. One constant for Peter Reid’s men however, has been the form of Bradley Wright Phillips, who has struck seven times in eight league games and the former Southampton man is just 5/4 in places to add to that tally at Oldham.
However, the good news for punters is that Paddy Power price the prolific striker at 11/4 to find the net at Boundary Park and that represents better value than backing either team to come out on top.
Finally, Bristol Rovers and Carlisle head into their Memorial Stadium clash in widely contrasting mood. The Cumbrians drew level with Charlton last week after being 3-0 down but then had their hearts broken as the Addicks nicked a late winner while the Pirates struck twice in the final five minutes to land a point at Hartlepool. The hosts therefore look the likely winners in this one, at 6/4 (William Hill), especially as Greg Abbott’s troops have lost three of their last four.
