Paul Ferguson three selections for us on on Saturday; Cruiseaweigh in the 12:20 at Sandown; Big Meadow in the Chepstow 12:35 and Debece in the Aintree 14:10. Compare odds and bet.
It is Becher Chase day at Aintree, in which Viconte Du Noyer could well give Colin Tizzard more to cheer, but the selection from my local track comes in the shape of Debece (2:10) in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.
A half-brother to Don Poli, the step up in trip really should suit and, though he goes up in class, he looks capable of going well from the foot of the weights. Hopefully, he will be available at an each-way price.
Down at Sandown Cruiseaweigh (12:20) is fancied to make a winning hurdles debut in the opening novices’ hurdle, for Tom George and Adrian Heskin.
Runner-up in a Wincanton bumper on his sole start last term, the five-year-old really impressed when beating Elgin (won at Newcastle last weekend) at Aintree on his reappearance and he looks a very exciting prospect.
There is also a smart debutant in action in Chepstow’s opener, in the shape of the Neil King-trained Big Meadow (12:35).
His bumper defeat of Geordie Des Champs, who runs later on the card, reads really well now and he also beat Reigning Supreme (won at Newbury last week) in his Irish Point-to-Point. Softer ground would probably have been ideal, but that could be why connections are opting to start off over the best part of 3m.
