Dan Skelton continues to send out the winners and Ch’Tibello (3:00) is fancied to defy top-weight in this afternoon’s William Hill Handicap Hurdle at Ascot.
The five-year-old goes well fresh, as he showed when winning the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr in April, which was his first start for the best part of five months. Runner-up at this fixture last year (beaten just over a length by Altior), the selection went on to finish third in the Swinton at Haydock when a serious mistake down the back didn’t help. He might well have still been feeling the effects of Ayr that day and, off a 3lbs higher mark, he looks capable of winning again, especially with the good ground in his favour.
Up at Wetherby, Cue Card really ought to win his second Charlie Hall Chase, for which he is priced up, accordingly. The one I like from the Yorkshire track is Zipple Back (3:55) in the bet365 Novices’ Hurdle.
Alan King’s four-year-old shaped well on debut in a Huntingdon bumper last year, before finishing down the field in the Grade 2 at Aintree. A nice looker, he could leave that form behind now he goes jumping and, though he faces a couple of previous winners with fair form in the book, a big run can be expected.
