Live on BBC.com: Fri from 02.00: Some thoughts on Sunday’s inaugral Korea GP ahead of Friday’s early practice sessions.
After weeks of debate, the Korea GP will definitely go ahead this weekend, despite the fact that much of the area looks like and still is a building site. Sebastien Vettel is the early fav to win the race on Sunday, 2/1 with Coral and a clear 6/4 fav to sit on pole position (Blue Square).
With a new course and potentially wild track conditions, it might be wise to watch the 1st two practice sessions before making a bet, after all, the (very) new surface could be a real leveller this weekend. Conversely, this could be an oppurtunity to steal some good early prices. The track will be unused, slippy and unknown.
The course is meant to suit all teams; long straights are ideal for McClaren and areas of high downforce for Red Bull and Renault for example. The pace of McClaren may take a few by surprise, especially after not registering a podium finish in the last 2 races; backing Lewis Hamilton pre-practice for pole at 5/1 with Betfred could be a price you wont see again.
Similarly, the 4/6 on Massa to finish in the top 6 (Ladbrokes) may not last Friday and the 9/2 about an in-form Mark Webber to win the GP (Sportingbet) could be gone after some good practices.
