Paul Ferguson has two selections on Friday; Sabre Squadron in the Goodwood 17:30 and In The City in the Newmarket 20:05. Compare odds and bet.
The concluding three-year-old handicap from Glorious Goodwood is a competitive affair in which SABRE SQUADRON (5:30) looks worthy of each-way support (8/1 overnight).
Peter Chapple-Hyam’s Lope De Vega gelding had a couple of these in behind when beating the smart Istanbul Bey in a Leicester maiden and looks potentially well treated.
The form of the stable is a slight concern, otherwise a bold bid can be expected.
Market leader Poets Word was slightly disappointing last time, but Sir Michael Stoute’s runner could easily bounce back on quick ground, having impressed me at Nottingham the time before. At the prices, I slightly favour the selection.
IN THE CITY (8:05) sets a fair standard at Newmarket, in the mile maiden and can score at the third time of asking.
An eye-catcher on his sole start at two (race worked out well), William Haggas’ Exceed And Excel colt finished a narrowly beaten second on his recent return and looks a sure fire maiden winner.
He was trading around Evens on Thursday evening and it is hoped this doesn’t come too quickly after that recent reappearance.
Friday’s selections:
5:30 Goodwood – Sabre Squadron; 8/1 888 Sport
8:05 Newmarket – In The City; 8/11 Betfred
