Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Central Square in the Redcar 15:25. Compare odds and bet.
Given his size, drying ground is a slight concern for Central Square (3:25) but Roger Varian’s four-year-old appeals as the type to land a nice prize and is given the nod in this afternoon’s Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar.
The Azamour gelding finished runner-up in a really hot Doncaster maiden on debut last August (first and fourth have won Group races since) before disappointing at Chester, where the track would probably have been tighter than ideal.
Given plenty of time, he made a winning return at Windsor earlier in the month and, though a mark of 90 wouldn’t look attractive strictly on that piece of form, he surely has a lot more to offer. A huge sort, you would expect him to come on a fair bit for that reappearance.
