Live on Skysports 2: Fri 18.00: Round 3; 2nd fav Simon Whitlock bowed out last night to Andy Hamilton, will Wade also succumb?
Andy Hamilton played fantastically to send Australian Simon Whitlock packing in Round 2 of the World GP of Darts and now faces the highly regarded James Wade; Hamilton is a 9/4 chance at Stan James to repeat that feat, while his opponent, James Wade, is just 2/5 with Ladbrokes. Hamilton has thrown high averages in both previous rounds while Wade seems to stuck around the 83 mark; Hamilton could be worth backing for an upset and perhaps a 4-2 win (8/1 William Hill).
In the rest of Round 3, Barney is up against surprise package Barrie Bates. Van Barneveld is just 1/6 at Betdaq to progress, which he should, but the odds are very skimpy and slightly disrespectful. Barney dropped 1 set against Mark Walsh and it could have been more and Bates could take some sets from him tonight – Van Barneveld to win 4-2 appeals at 10/3 (Bet365)
Phil Taylor is 1/12 with Totesport to progress past the in-form Gary Anderson. The Scot is 2/1 to take just 1 set from The Power (Boylesport) and lose 4-1.
Lastly, Adrian Lewis is 11/10 at Betdaq to beat Wayne Jones, himself an 11/10 shot with Victor Chandler, in the closest match up of the night.
Taylor is still just 1/4 with Skybet to win overall but the odds about van Barneveld, 10/1 at Paddy Power, still offer a great each way opportunity.
