Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Lake View Lad in the 12:20 at Ayr and Yorkhill in the 2.25 at Sandown. Compare odds and bet.
Despite dropping in trip Yorkhill (2:25) can maintain his unbeaten record under rules in this afternoon’s Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.
Willie Mullins’ former winning pointer impressed in winning a couple of bumpers last term, latterly at the Punchestown Festival, and he won his maiden hurdle with the minimum of fuss.
That success came over 2m4f, back at Punchestown, and, though he will get further in time, he was a shade keen last time and should get away with this stiff 2m on testing ground.
Up at Ayr Lake View Lad (12:20) is fancied to land the opening maiden hurdle, for the in-form Nick Alexander.
The Kinneston based trainer saddled a double at Newcastle on 19th December and repeated the trick at Kelso 10 days later, during which period he has saddled just 10 runners.
The selection, a grey son of Oscar, won a heavy ground Hexham bumper on his debut for the yard (had finished third in a bumper at the Punchestown Festival prior to going through the sales ring), but took an early fall on his hurdles bow at Carlisle.
The six-year-old remains a bright prospect for the north, however, and he can bounce back this afternoon, under regular rider Stephen Mulqueen.
